October 2011, Sweeping changes to the Owner Builders Inspection Reports.
Owner Builders don’t be caught short, and don’t pay for a Defects Report that fails to meet Home Warranty Insurance requirements.

A key process to securing Owner Builder Warranty (Vic, NSW) and Home Indemnity (WA), is the completion of Defects Report. This Report is to be prepared by a licenced Building Inspector.
Statutory requirement defines the Defects Report to be no older than 6 months from date of the Defects Report to the actual Owner Builder Application for Owner Builder Warranty (Vic, NSW) and Home Indemnity (WA).
AOBIS ‘Preferred' Inspector Defects Report meet the legislative requirements and carry Professional Indemnity Insurance. However, Inspectors listed in this site are independent businesses and not engaged by nor representatives of Australian Owner Builders Insurance Services. Australian Owner Builders Insurance Services does not get involved in the contractual agreements made between you (the Owner Builder) and the Inspector or Consultant. It is your (Owner Builder) responsibility to check the credentials including but not limited to experience, qualifications and professional indemnity insurance status prior to engaging them.
AOBIS list of inspectors is segmented by areas. Please keep in mind prices may vary depending on your client's geographical location. Inspectors may charge an additional fee if travelling large distances.
In most cases inspections can be arranged within 3 days of booking. Ensure that your client has all the relevant documentation and approved plans at the time of inspection. This will guarantee a smooth process.
